you'll soon be able to trash this Mustang!
Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has announced that vehicle damage will be one of the new features coming to GT5 Prologue in the next update.

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that a "major update" is coming for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue later this year, which will add among other things long-awaited vehicle damage.

In an interview with CVG this afternoon, Yamauchi said that the update will also have a big focus on enhancing Prologue's online modes, starting with the addition of various "community building features."
Why don't people just create a game completely and make sure it works properly without having to download tons of patches and "updates"?

What's next? A shooter being released with only half of the weapons available until a new version gets available later on? Oh wait, that already exists. It's called "episodic gaming"...

Speed? You new to gaming? By gaming I mean games that arent 'old, buy out of the box and thats thats' console gaming. Battlefield 1942 had 6 patches with lots of new content, and it was great. A company giving back/more is a great thing, and they have been doing it for upwards of a decade.

For a gaming site writer, your a little out of touch.

I think a damage model is not comparable to new maps, cars or tracks. It's a basic feature of a game and shouldn't be added later on as an "update". This more sounds like releasing an unfinished game too early and adding what's missing as a patch to correct things that should have been in there from the beginning.

It's not because more and more developers and publishers are applying these tactics that one should applaud this.

gamers have been preaching this for years. and now it's only gotten worse.

Pointing to a company that does get it right the first time... enter Blizzard. They demanded control of release dates from vivendi and what happens? Each and every time the release a polished award winning product. When are other publishers going to relax and let the devs work.
