GT5 coming to PC?

Posted on Wednesday, 16 April 2008 by Speed, source: Der Standard
Believe it or not, but Sony's stronghold for PS3 may actually see the light on PC and we would have the Chinese to thank for that.

Der Standard spoke with Polyphony's Kazunori Yamauchi who stated that if Gran Turismo 5 were to be released on another platform, it will most probably be the PC:

Frage: Gibt es eine Chance, dass Gran Turismo auf einer anderen Plattform erscheint?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Es ist sehr sehr unwahrscheinlich, dass GT auf einer anderen Konsole herauskommt. Aber vielleicht kommt es auf den PC. Vor allem am chinesischen Markt könnten wir so die Verbreitung fördern.
So especially the Chinese market would be a key for Sony and Polyphony to decide on whether or not to bring GT5 to PC. Strange seeing that all you hear about China is that everything is being massively pirated over there.

You're not sure current graphics cards can cope with something a PS3 runs? Dude, PC's were faster than next gen consoles about 6 months after they came out. The reason people think they're almost equal is because the developers can't port the games over efficiently, causing the ported titles to run at about 50% efficiency, sometimes less. If a game is coded specifically for PC from the ground up, as opposed to it being halfassedly ported, it would be a piece of cake for the PC to run anything next gen consoles have to offer.

Even the lowly Geforce 8800GTS 320MB cards blow the PS3 and 360 away, and the cards that are out now make the 8800GTS look like a wimp.

It's a matter of CODING. I program for a living, mostly in C but I'm capable of coding DirectX and OpenGL as well. DirectX != PS3-SDK. They may be similar in logic but it would take a LONG time to port!
