GTA 4 to be delayed?

Posted on Saturday, 2 June 2007 by Speed, source: Next-Gen
Next-Gen is reporting that Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes Take2 will be delaying the release of Grand Theft Auto 4 with a couple of weeks with one of the reasons being Halo 3

There’s also the Halo 3 factor that Take-Two could take into consideration. “We believe that a two-week delay would provide a reasonable gap between the launch of Halo 3 and the launch of GTA IV, and would actually help sales of both games,” wrote Pachter.

Pachter even said that there would be advantages to launching the $90 collector’s edition GTA IV SKU on the originally planned date. “…A delay of the ‘normal’ SKU for GTA IV by two or three weeks could allow Take-Two to maximize revenues from the $89.99 Collector’s Edition of the game by shipping that SKU on October 17, and to increase overall profitability,” he said.

Pachter also believes Take2 will be closing a couple of studios in order to get their finances back on track.

More news and possible confirmations will probably come on June 11th when Take2's quarterly conference call is being held

Wow, selling an more expensive version of a game 2 weeks before the normal will increase revenues. That guy must have done like 10years of high university studies to find out something THAT smart all by himself ...

Halo3 will not affect the sales. People WILL buy both if they want both, if they dont want GTA or Halo it will not be because of the other, 2 different games, different markets, different fans.

I think you'd have a good sized portion of the crowd going for both. And the teens that want both may have to choose which one to spend their $60 on. A delay could give them time to save up for both.
