GameCube officially R.I.P.

The GameCube is no more! Nintendo of America today officially announced they've shut down production and that wouldn't create any more first-party titles. Aside from Zelda, can someone tell me what their last first-party title was, because I sure as hell can't remember...

"Are we producing any more GameCubes? No," Perrin Kaplan, vice president of Nintendo America told GameDaily.

When asked if the gaming-giant was no longer supporting the platform by not releasing any new games, Kaplan ominously replied, "Right, that's correct".

If you still want to buy some games or buy a GC -god knows why you'd do that-, there is still ample supply for quite a while. After the silent demise of the Xbox, it seems Sony's trusted PlayStation 2 is the only platform that can survive the next-gen storm.

hell, i think alot of people still use teh xbox to play movies, etc... together with xbmc its still a powerful machine and the DVD playback is 10x better then 360 quality so imho the xbox still lives on together with the PS2.... at least in my living room :-)

I cant believe that anyone would still be using a PS2 or Xbox and my Gamecube never got turned on again after about two weeks of buying it.

Why would you want use anything other than a DVD player to play DVD's?.
A stand alone DVD player is better than any console DVD playback, the only console i use for films is my PS3 for Blu-Ray for obvious insanely priced stand alone Blu-Ray player reasons.

yes i have an xbox as my dvd player, which part you don't understand?

like i said, DVD quality on the original xbox can be compared with the better stand alone dvd players.

I doubt he'd want several DVD players tbh, but then you weren't serious either. Meh, my DvD player is broken too, gonna see if it's cheaper to get an Xbox or a new dvd player :P

I was serious actually, you wana buy an Xbox then derf? ;P

Considering you can buy dvd players for a tenner now i find it hard to believe that you are considering buying a new one and dont just walk down your local newsagents as they sell dvd players everywhere now anyway.
