Games Charts: SOCOM comes first

Posted on Tuesday, 1 July 2003 by Speed, source: Fragland
Quite a lot of big changes on all the charts so let's get on with it :

All Formats:
  • 1. SOCOM: US Navy Seals - Sony
  • 2. Enter the Matrix - Atari
  • 3. The Sims: Superstar - EA
  • 4. Midnight Club 2 - Take2
  • 5. Hulk - Universal Interactive
  • 6. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Take2
  • 7. Brute Force - Microsoft
  • 8. Starsky & Hutch - Empire
  • 9. The Sims - EA
  • 10. World Championship Snooker 2003 - Codemasters
Enter the Matrix finally gets thrown off its throne as Sony's online PS2 title SOCOM: US Navy Seals takes first place. Rockstar's Midnight Club 2 stays ahead of the green giant while Microsoft's Brute Force comes in at 7th place.

PC:
  • 1. The Sims: Superstar - EA
  • 2. Championship Manager 4 - Eidos
  • 3. The Sims: Deluxe Edition - EA
  • 4. Star Trek: Elite Force 2 - Activision
  • 5. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Take2
  • 6. The Sims Unleashed - EA
  • 7. Rise of Nations - Microsoft
  • 8. Command & Conquer: Generals - EA
  • 9. Vietcong - Take2
  • 10. The Sims on Holiday - EA
Enter the Matrix leaves the PC chart while Elite Force 2 enters at second spot. Re-entries are seen in the form of Rise of Nations and two Sims expansions, Unleashed and On Holiday.

PS2:
  • 1. SOCOM: US Navy Seals - Sony
  • 2. Enter the Matrix - Atari
  • 3. Hulk - Universal Interactive
  • 4. Starsky & Hutch - Empire
  • 5. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Take 2
  • 6. Dynasty Warriors 4 - Koei
  • 7. Midnight Club 2 - Take2
  • 8. World Championship Snooker 2003 - Codemasters
  • 9. Def Jam Vendetta - EA
  • 10. The Getaway - Sony
As expected, SOCOM takes the lead, bumping Enter the Matrix down one place but the green danger called The Hulk is already breathing in its neck. Starsky & Hutch manage to take over Vice City, but the question is: for how long ?

XBox:
  • 1. Brute Force - Microsoft
  • 2. Midtwown Madness 3 - Microsoft
  • 3. Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix - Activision
  • 4. Midnight Club 2 - Take2
  • 5. World Championship Snooker 2003 - Codemasters
  • 6. Enter the Matrix - Atari
  • 7. HALO: Combat Evolved - Microsoft
  • 8. Starsky & Hutch - Empire
  • 9. RtCW: Tides of War - Activision
  • 10. Project Gotham Racing - Microsoft
Wow, what a week on XBox ! The complete Top5 has changed with two major Microsoft titles taking the lead spots and converted SoF2 coming in at third place. Still, even with 6 new games coming in, both HALO and Project Gotham manage to stay in the Top10 of most sold games for this platform. Truly remarking.

Gamecube:
  • 1. Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut - Sega
  • 2. Wario World - Nintendo
  • 3. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Nintendo
  • 4. Bomberman Generation - Majesco
  • 5. Enter the Matrix - Atari
  • 6. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Ubi Soft
  • 7. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin - Eidos
  • 8. Super Mario Bros: Melee - Nintendo
  • 9. Sonic Mega Collection - Sega
  • 10. Hulk - Universal Interactive
Two new titles at the top, but more interestingly is that none of these manage to sell enough to come into the Top10 of the all formats chart while other big newcomers usually do on Gamecube (like Zelda and Metroid Prime did). Are Gamecube sales slowing down ?
