Games Charts: The Sims... again

Posted on Wednesday, 23 April 2003 by Speed, source: Fragland
A day later than normal but let's blame the Easter Holidays for that :)

All Formats:
  • 1. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Ubi Soft
  • 2. The Sims - EA
  • 3. Championship Manager 4 - Eidos
  • 4. Primal - Sony
  • 5. FIFA 2003 - EA
  • 6. Harry Potter, Chamber of Secrets - EA
  • 7. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Take2
  • 8. The Getaway - Sony
  • 9. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Ubi Soft
  • 10. Vietcong - Take2
We see The Sims coming back on second place, pushing Championship Manager 4 one place down. Devil May Cry 2 and Freelancer have had it and stepped out of the Top10.
New entries are scarse as Vietcong manages to come in new at 10th place while Harry Potter (a Gameboy title!) has a nice jump to the sixth spot.

PC:
  • 1. Championship Manager 4 - Eidos
  • 2. Vietcong - Take2
  • 3. Freelancer - Microsoft
  • 4. The Sims: Unleashed - EA
  • 5. The Sims: Deluxe Edition - EA
  • 6. C&C: Generals - EA
  • 7. Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - Novalogic
  • 8. The Sims: On Holiday - EA
  • 9. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Ubi Soft
  • 10. The Sims: Hot Date - EA
Vietcong does a nice entry at second place but the biggest notice goes to re-entries from two Sims-expansions, On Holiday and Hot Date. The three games that occupied the last positions last week have disappeared, but knowing how weird the sales charts can act, I wouldn't be surprised to see a re-entry soon of SimCity 4.

PS2:
  • 1. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Ubi Soft
  • 2. Primal - Sony
  • 3. The Sims - EA
  • 4. GTA: Vice City - Take 2
  • 5. The Getaway - Sony
  • 6. Devil May Cry 2 - Capcom
  • 7. FIFA 2003 - EA
  • 8. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring - Vivendi
  • 9. X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge - Activision
  • 10. Grand Theft Auto 3 - Take 2
Older titles are starting to reign the PS2 charts with only X-Men 2 making a new entry and LoTR coming back to 8th place. The Top5 are becoming classics while we say goodbye to MGS2: Substance and Rayman 3 :)

XBox:
  • 1. The Sims - EA
  • 2. HALO: Combat Evolved - Microsoft
  • 3. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - Konami
  • 4. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Ubi Soft
  • 5. Project Gotham Racing - Microsoft
  • 6. Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb - LucasArts
  • 7. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Ubi Soft
  • 8. Kung Fu Chaos - Microsoft
  • 9. Moto GP - Microsoft
  • 10. X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge - Activision
It's completely unbelievable but Halo has jumped back to second place while Project Gotham goes up to fifth spot. Moto GP and X-Men 2 are new entries for XBox but hardly shake the stats.

Gamecube:
  • 1. Metroid Prime - Nintendo
  • 2. The Sims - EA
  • 3. Super Monkey Ball 2 - Sega
  • 4. Super Mario Bros: Melee - Nintendo
  • 5. Super Mario Sunshine - Nintendo
  • 6. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - LucasArts
  • 7. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - EA
  • 8. Resident Evil Zero - Capcom
  • 9. Conflict: Desert Storm - SCi
  • 10. X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge - Activision
No major changes this week. LoTR drops a couple of places while Conflict: Desert Storm and X-Men 2 enter the charts at the lowest positions.

Biggest surprises are a gameboy title which comes peeping in the all formats chart while EA starts to dominate the PC charts again (5 titles in the Top10) without even releasing new games. Let's hope next week will bring new blood into the arena.
