Gamespy's Direct2Drive service more expensive than retail

Posted on Wednesday, 6 April 2005 by Speed, source: 3DNewz
I noticed over at 3DNewz that Gamespy's Direct2Drive is selling Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory for $49,95 while at the same time, Gamestop lets you have the game for just $39,99.

"Now, what is wrong with this", you might wonder. Well, Direct2Drive is a download service. You pay for a game and download it. That's right, no cd, no nice packaging, ... nothing. So while one would think that downloading would be cheaper than going to the store and buying a game in retail version, Gamespy certainly seems to think otherwise...
