Garriot: "Consoles are doomed"

In a new interview, industry legend Richard Garriott claims that consoles are fundamentally doomed:
"I think we might get one more generation, might, but I think fundamentally they're doomed," he asserted. "I think fundamentally the power that you can carry with you in a portable is really swamping what we've thought of as a console."
He believes that the future is in smartphones we can hook up to a TV and use as a controller.In other news:
