Gears 2 gets experience levels
Sooner than later Epic wants to add a new experience system to Gears of War 2's multiplayer. Rod Fergusson has more or less announced this via the forum, as a solution to the frustratingly complex TrueSkill ranking system.
Another change is that from now on bots are automatically added until the 5 vs 5 matches are full, e.g. when one of the gamers has suddenly logged out.
You would gain experience through your individual performance in Public multiplayer matches - the higher your score at the end, the more experience you acquire. Of course the experience gained across the different match types would be balanced so you couldn't just grind on the re-spawning game types to try and level faster. The experience requirements for each level would grow with each level gained (like a typical RPG) and we'd have 99 levels of experience for you to show off your leetness.
He also added that a player would get no XP when he leaves a match and that it would be a permanent system. For now no perks or extra possibilities are acquired by gaining levels, but in the future there will be unlockable Achievements, added via downloadable content (for instance extra maps).Another change is that from now on bots are automatically added until the 5 vs 5 matches are full, e.g. when one of the gamers has suddenly logged out.
