Gears 3 sells 3 million in one week
Microsoft has announced their latest third party exlusive, Gears of War 3, sold three million times in its first week of release.
Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb (Major Nelson) announced it on his blog:
Following more than 22,000 midnight madness launch events, Microsoft and Epic Games today announced that the Xbox 360 exclusive sold more than three million copies in its first week since release.
This makes Epic's game the biggest seller of the year up to now and brings the total revenue of the series over 1 billion dollars.In just one week, Gears 3 has already grossed more than any 2011 video game to date.
Quite an achievement. For comparison: Gears 2 sold 2 million in its first weekend.In other news:
