Maybe the flooding from the original game got Epic Games inspired but if the translation of a Russian magazine over at the Gears Forum can be trusted, we are going to duke it out on the ocean in the next instalment of the series.

According to the translation the game will take place 18 months after the events of Gears 2. After flooding the Locust underworld the humanity becomes ungoverned and many take refuse out on the open sea, creating various tribes fighting for survival. Waterworld anyone?

You get to play Marcus again who is holding up in a man-made outpost called the Raven's Nest. Marcus is joined by usual suspects Dom and Cole together with the new kid called Anya and -Mega Spoiler- Marcus' father Adam. Most of the action takes place in, around and under the outpost made of warships.

Next to storyline info there is also quite some data to find on the rest of the series. While 'Gears 3' will conclude the story of Marcus, there are still several other games planned for the franchise. There is even word of making a spin-off in another genre.

The last bit of info given deals with the difficulty which has been turned down a notch because too many players didn't finish the previous game due to being too hard.

I almost forgot this. There will be mechs in the game for your enjoyment and guessing from their name "Silverback" they could very well be gorilla shaped.
