Gibson and Activision go to court

After years of Guitar Hero fun and licensing, the guys at Gibson finally realised that they have a patent on the idea of a Guitar Hero game. Result: Gibson wants additional money from Activision and Activision wants a judge to invalidate Gibson's patent.

Activision filed a lawsuit yesterday asking the US District Court for Central California to invalidate a 1999 Gibson patent on "simulating a musical performance," because apparently Gibson's bugging them about it since January

Gibson's patent apparently involves playing an instrument of some kind along with a pre-recorded concert while wearing what is described as a "3-D headset," so there seems to be some overlap, but we'll see what the court says

I'm sure the judge will be very serious but I would really wish one day one would stand up and say something like "Don't you guys have more important things to do than to waste my time with crap like this? Grow up and stop behavind like kids!"
