God of War II launch party a bit over the top?
It's a hard life for game magazines, even for the Official UK PlayStation Magazine. They did a story on a God of War II launch party which took place in Greece but British tabloid The Mail jumped on to it yesterday like a hungry wolf to call the publication a disgrace. Sony then pulled most magazines off shelves before greater harm was done (subscribers still obtained their original issue though).
Why? Well, the launch party itself featured a dead goat which served as a dinner plate of sorts for the guests. More treats for anyone else who was present there were real snakes which could be picked up out of a pit, knife-throwing activities and last but not least topless models inviting people to eat the grapes they were holding. One hell of a party I'd say.
In further damage-control Sony admits their mistake stating that "an element of the event was of an unsuitable nature." So they have now probably fired someone:
The dead goat wasn't slaughtered on-site nor was it killed for this event only according to Sony, it was only bought from a Greek butcher.

The entire print run of The Official UK PlayStation Magazine has had to be recalled following a front page report in British tabloid The Mail On Sunday, which alleges animal cruelty and debauched behavior at a Greek God of War II launch party.
Under a banner headline reading “Slaughter”, the story, which occupied almost the entirety of the front page, describes “Horror at Sony’s depraved stunt to promote PlayStation with decapitated goat.”

"We are conducting an internal inquiry into aspects of the event in order to learn from the occurrence and put into place measures to ensure that this does not happen again."
