Sony Entertainment have given racing fans something to look forward to by giving more details about the next instalments in the famous Gran Turismo series. On 23 March, the game (or should we say demo) Gran Turismo HD can be downloaded for free in Europe. It will contain one track and ten cars. Later this year, we will see more of GT in the form of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue.

That game will be available this fall and will not only introduce new cars and tracks, but also online play (for the first time in the series!). Even so, it's only a warming-up lap for the real deal; Gran Turismo 5 will hit stores in the beginning of 2008.

More info on pricing and details as we get them.

If you want original racing games, you can try Test Drive Unlimited. If you want the absolute best, GT5 is the way to go.

Zwan seriously dude when was the last time you played a GT game, i downloaded GTHD and yes it does look very nice but it handles like a robin reliant with a front wheel missing.

GTHD, GT Prologue, Gt warm up £20 game, GT5 Demo for a fiver when you pre-order from game yada yada yada.

They need to seriously overhaul the handling and add a decent online and for gods sake put damage in otherwise a new GT will just be a fossil of a game with shiny graphics to distract you from poor gameplay.
It was great in its time.

Look how far Gotham has come from Metropolis Street Racer on the DreamCast.

If you want the absolute best in fast powersliding non realistic handling then Gotham 3 is it until Gotham 4 pulls up on the grid but if you want some serious driving simulation tweaking your car like a motor head type then Forza 2 will be it.

GT is no where near the real driving simulator or an arcade game.
Wouldnt really know what to class it as other than out of date now.

From the HD shots that I've seen I was pretty amazed at how well they made it look.

And at Vexxed:
As far as the driving is concerned, have you ever driven a Ferrari 599GTB? No, I'm pretty sure you haven't. So, you wouldn't have anything to compare it to. And do you actually have facts/numbers instead of opinions to quantify your feeling that the game is completely unrealistic? I wouldn't think so either. When experts in the motoring industry praise the game for it's accuracy, I'm more inclined to believe them than you. I'm not a big fan of it's AI etc either, but there is one thing which is rock solid in my opinion, and that's the driving model. To be honest, I'm quite interested to hear why you feel it's so bad. And I don't mean a smackfest, I mean exact reasons.

Opinions are important for a game, and if you don't like the feel of a game, that's your good right. But if experts in the industry tell you that the game's perfectly fine, then I'd probably start to think the car is more the reason you don't like the game... Sometimes in Gran Turismo you'll need to work to keep the car on track. It requires a whole different approach from Gotham Racing.

BTW, For example, Jeremy Clarkson, has reviewed GT4 once. He actually put the game to the test. And the game survived close scrutiny. And he's not even a motoring genius.

Stupid Microsoft fanboys crap another thread.

Read stuff properly before you talk rubbish dude, what i was getting at is that GT doesnt play any different than it did the first time it was released.
As for being a MS slave, well i would guess you dont own a X360 as you seem to dislike MS so i guess that makes you a slave to whatever you own if thats how you think it works.

And to the guy above me, i dont think the handling of GT is all that great, yes it handles more realisticly than the likes of Burnout but its allways been called the real driving simulator which it isnt, the game simply hasnt progressed since the series was first released, it still has awful AI and it has no damage and its not online and you are still forced to play for hours upon hours with utter crap cars.

Im sure you have seen the screenshots in HD good for you and your screenshots and yes your right it does look very very very nice but since i've got it i think i might know a little bit more about what GTHD is and how it plays which is why i read this article and posted, i liked the old GT games but i wish they would bring them upto date otherwise like i have already said it is just an old old game with shiny graphics which doesnt cut it in my opinion, also i think the whole prologue thing is a massive con and although GTHD is free to download that is still a con in it being misleading.

I have already seen two people (you being one of them) use GTHD as a notch on the PS3's bed post, if you actually had it you would knows its ONE track with ten cars twenty if you include the same cars tuned up a bit and its time trial only and it takes twenty minutes to finish but yet people are still saying thay want it.
Whats the deal with GT5 prologue anyway, just get on with the actual game and not just churn out excuse after excuse, thats all GTHD was.
They had to have atleast one big name game to launch with their PS3 and if anyones excited about GTHD then sorry if i just burst your bubble but i know you will still want it and say how amazing it is once you've got.

As for me not having any knowledge on actual driving, just so you know i am the very proud owner of the brand new Audi S3 and have had many other cars in the past and one of my other hobbies other than playing video games is doing track days with a couple of my mates and i have over 30 track days under my belt thanks, i may not be Jeremy Clarskon or an expert in the motor industry but im sure i know more about driving cars around a track than you do so think next time before you start calling people out because you might just be surprised at what they are really like.

Dont just think that everyone on here is a sad little boy with no money to even buy these consoles that we allways have heated discussions about.

I agree... yet another thread. Honestly I think the downfall of the Xbox 360 will directly result from people not wanting to be labeled with its ownership since the average owner of a 360 seems to be a whinny, negative and complaining "gamer" that actually spends more time starting factless & directionless arguments on message boards than actually playing video games. PS3 & Wii owners are too busy having fun playing their preferred system to camp out on video game websites all day looking to spread Xbox-gloom all over every thread they can find.

Oh yeah, GT5 is going to rule.

GTHD was actually a canned project. It was supposed to be a PS3 version of GT4 that would help bridge the wait for GT5 but Polyphony Digital & Sony thought it was cutting into GT5's production time too much, and it was. So they turned it into a free game so they can entirely focus on GT5 for PS3 and GTModile for PSP. So GTHD is the exact opposite of an "excuse" and its entire being is because they're trying to get to the "actual game". Why start an argument and accuse people of not knowing what they're talking about when you have no clue in the first place?

Fair point dude but if they canned it in order to get on with GT5 proper do you want to enlighten me on the point behind GT5 prologue cos surely thats also wasting time that could be spent on getting the porper GT5 out.

GT mobile for the PSP huh, you mean the game that was supposed to be available at european PSP launch, that GT mobile?????????.

Also do you not think if they had of released GT4 a bit polished on the PS3 that maybe that could be considered a cop out also, whatever way you word it its just feeding you more of the same when they should be pulling their thumbs out of their asses and getting GT5 made and on the shelves.

In fact GTHD was canned because of all the negative press surrounding the fact that gamers would have to pay to download all the cars. Someone worked out it would cost around $700 to own all the cars in the game and the rest is history.

Sony being the arrogant wankers that they have proven to be, underestimated how pissed off people would be to get a game with only a few cars and then be told if you want the rest you have to pay for them. Does no one on here remember all the fuss about this?

Also I am with vexxed on all this prologue bullshit it is blatantly ripping people off imo opinion other game company’s do similar things but they call it by a different name and that name is DEMO.
