Graphical update for WoW

Blizzard Entertainment will gradually improve the graphics of World of Warcraft. Earlier it was suggested that the game would get a complete graphical overhaul with the new Wrath of the Lich King expansion, but that seems to be (partially) incorrect.

It's important to note that in general we're taking an iterative, organic approach to graphics upgrades, going feature by feature as opposed to thinking in terms of an overall 'new graphics engine',"

There are of course some graphical changes in the new expansion. You will be able to look further than ever before in Northrend, for instance, and the characters' shadows will be improved.

Allen Brack, World of Warcraft producer, also said the following:

"For example, we've discussed plans for new visuals for water, but this would be for a future content update or expansion."
