Half-Life 2 to compete with Doom 3 ?
Half-Life remains one of the games everyone is looking forward to and despite numerous times being pushed back, the game's hype doesn't stop. In fact, it gets bigger each time anyone mentions anything about it.
This time, Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that the game should go gold in August as they spotted a post by Gabe Newell in one of the numerous HL2 forums
While that may look to be an interesting time due to the huge battle between the giants, in a commercial point of view this doesn't sound all too smart.
Both titles being released at the same time will most certainly mean that a lot of people will be making a choice instead of getting them both and that will definitely drive sales down.

"To the best of our admittedly weak planning abilities, we are looking at August," he said in a post on the Half-Life 2 Fallout forum, where he also discussed a number of other details of the games, including internationalisation and installed size.

Dont get why they have to compete. I mean, whats the point, if they both want it released in August, fine, release it. No need to fight, right?
