Halo 3 effect dies down in October
Posted on Friday, 16 November 2007 by L0k1-, source: Ars Technica
The NPD, the only source for gamesales in the US, has given out their numbers for October 2007. The results are the following:
Wii: 519K
Nintendo DS: 458K
Xbox 360: 366K
PSP: 286K
PlayStation 2: 184K
PlayStation 3: 121K
The ranking of consoles has changed back towards the ones from a couple of weeks ago. The Wii is as usual these last months still on top, closely followed by the DS and the Xbox 360 on third. In September the Xbox 360 was on number one because of Halo 3. While this game is still number on regarding gamesales in the US, the system-selling effect has died down.
Another noticeable fact is the bad selling of the PS3. Yet do take in account that these are the numbers of October and the recent price drop and new model has only been released this month.
The top ten of sold games for all platforms are the following:
360 HALO 3: 433.8K
360 GUITAR HERO III: LEGENDS OF ROCK: 383.2K
WII GUITAR HERO III: LEGENDS OF ROCK: 286.3K
PS2 GUITAR HERO III: LEGENDS OF ROCK: 271.1K
NDS LEGEND OF ZELDA: PHANTOM HOURGLASS: 262.8K
WII PLAY: 239.7K
360 HALF LIFE 2: EPISODE 2 THE ORANGE BOX: 238.4K
PS2 GUITAR HERO III: LEGENDS OF ROCK: 231.7K
PS2 FIFA SOCCER 08: 129.7K
NDS BRAIN AGE 2: 116.9K
November is looking to be very interesting with games like Crysis for the PC, Mass Effect for the Xbox 360, Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii and Rachet & Clank for the PS3 (plus price drop).
