Microsoft has announced that Halo Wars will arrive on store shelves in the first half of next year.

Yesterday no new details were given on the game that's being developed by Ensemble Studios, but it's now clear we'll have to wait quite some time still for this Xbox360-exclusive.

The game will be set before the happenings from the first Halo, on the planet Harvest. There the Spirit of Fire (a UNSC space ship) finds an old artefact after which it gets under fire from the Covenant. What follows will give you the command over all known units and vehicles from the Halo-universe, inclusing Scorpions, Warthogs and even old Forerunner technology with which you'll be able to build your own unique units.

Online you'll get going with up to six people at the same time, and you can fight with UNSC or The Covenant.
