Halo movie still not buried

The movie based upon Halo has had a turbulent history and it seems a new chapter has just been added.

A while ago, director Neill Blomkamp told us that the production of the movie had ceased completely, but the people from WETA, the company of Peter Jackson, got a different opinion on that. They also clarify some of the rumors that had been spreading about the choice of director and the increase of budget.

"What happened was this: Universal, on behalf of both studios, asked for a meeting with the filmmakers just prior to the due date of a significant payment. Basically, they said that in order to move forward with the film, the filmmakers had to significantly reduce their deals. They waited until the last minute to have this conversation. Peter and Fran, after speaking with their producing partners and with Microsoft and Bungie (the studio that designed the original game), respectfully declined."

As you can read, it was Universal and Fox who suddenly decided to finance less than they promised at start and they told their new conditions on the day the first slice of money had to be paid. All other parties then decided to look for other ways to finance the movie.

kind of odd, you would think they would be able to hype this movie up as much as the game and it would sell a lot of tickets.

well the thing is almost all game based movies got a low budget, resident evil 2 for example had a budget of 20 milion dollars if i remember correctly. microsoft wanted to have at least a budget of 100 million dollars to make it a big blockbuster movie, but since game based movies most of the time have a low cost, Universal and Fox didn't want to take the risk of funding a movie that wouldn't give them any profit.

also remember that gamers =/= movie people, they're a different kind of people s oit's not because a game is quite succesfull, it will have the same success as a movie: )
