Happy NXE day, just not from Sony

Today is the day Microsoft Studios welcomes its latest brave little soldier in what is known as the 'Console Wars'. This new member to the family, called New Xbox Experience, should be the second push towards a conquest of the Christmas battlefield which might lead to an overall victory. Yes, I know, there is also a Wii that is basically already fighting in another dimension but it is shooting cute fuzzy bullets so it doesn't really count.
All seemed well in Xbox land where the many new features were mostly applauded upon when unveiled for the first time. Yesterday however, on the eve before the launch, Sony decided to go guerilla and have its Columbia Pictures (owned by Sony) removed from Netflix for Xbox 360. Just a bit later their own Sony Pictures Entertainment films disappeared too. A Netflix representative had the following to say:
“As watching instantly becomes a more prominent part of the Netflix service, our goal is to have all of our streaming content licensed for all of our partner devices,” he said. “We’re doing well in this area, but it will take some time before we fully achieve that goal. Today, titles regularly come in and out of license and there is a natural ebb and flow to what we have on license at any given point in time.”
Well played Sony, well played indeed. Way to neuter the competition on their big day.In other news:
