Harry Potter delay costs EA $120 Million

Well, delaying Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince doesn't really cost EA that much money but it does mean income that won't appear in the company's 2008 fiscal year.

The title, based on the film of the same name, was originally slated to release in November 2008, but EA and Warner Bros. said yesterday that the game would be held back to release day and date with the film in Summer 2009.

The thing is: delaying income isn't as such a big problem but it can affect your shares price as investors tend to think short-term these days and don't like seeing $120 million expected revenue go away for a while.

I guess EA better do extremely well with the rest of their games this year as otherwise their shareholders (on short term) may become a bit pissed.
