That damn Italian plumber from Nintendo has done it again! According to Japanese game magazine Famitsu, no less than 936.734 copies of New Super Mario Bros. Wii have been sold in only one week, of which 422.000 on the day of release.

With this, the plumber claims his golden medal for fastest selling game in a week time. Previous record holder was Smash Bros. Brawl which managed to go over the counter 816k times while Mario Kart Wii comes in third with 608k.

Andriasang reports that the platformer sold 422k copies in its first day (December 3), with Famitsu following up that NSMB Wii moved 936,734 units by Sunday, December 6, its "first week" at retail, stomping the previous week-one sales recordheld by Super Smash Bros. Brawl (816k).

That's a nice hattrick for Nintendo!
