A court filing was released today, showing an internal email from Lincoln Hershberger, senior director of global marketing at Electronic Arts' DICE studio, who apparently had asked Infinity Ward's Vince Zampella to delay the released of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Map Pack to make sure it wouldn't interfere with the release of EA's Battlefield Bad Company 2
A court filing was released today, showing an internal email from Lincoln Hershberger, senior director of global marketing at Electronic Arts' DICE studio, who apparently had asked Infinity Ward's Vince Zampella to delay the released of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Map Pack to make sure it wouldn't interfere with the release of EA's Battlefield Bad Company 2
"A couple months ago, I asked Vince to hold back their map pack until after we launched. (He owes me one,) " starts the email written by the rival developer, apparently referring to Modern Warfare 2 developer Vince Zampella. "Given that they've already made a billion, he was cool with that, obviously (Activision CEO ) Kotick took it as being belligerent."
When asked for comment, EA's Jeff Brown said the mail is clearly a joke:"This was obviously sarcasm," he said. "It's clear from the email this was a joke and they never spoke. We explained this to lawyers at Activision – who apparently don't have much of a sense of humor."
Even if it was meant as a joke (which is doubtful to proove, especially seeing the absence of any smileys), this mail is for sure going to hurt EA, Zampella and West.In other news:
