Ion Storm imploding ?

Posted on Saturday, 29 May 2004 by Speed, source: Fragland
IGN has word that several people over at Ion Storm (devs of Thief: Deadly Shadows) have been laid off
Rumors are rampant this morning from multiple sources that 20 to 25 employees have left Austin-based developer Ion Storm, home of renowned titles like Deus Ex and Thief: Deadly Shadows. Further, it is reported that the developer's creative leader, Warren Spector, is among those leaving the company.

The losses come just days after Thief: Deadly Shadows, the third game in the foundational stealth-action series, hit store shelves and garnered favorable reviews.
According to Eidos representative these are only rumors and untrue but the news comes from several sources so we'll just have to wait a little before we get the truth out.
An update on the situation has been posted over at Shacknews :
Update 2: More details are coming in. It looks like people leaving/being laid off is just the start of it, as the company is also changing names..and going PS2 development only.
Doesn't look good at all.
