Is Apple planning a videoconsole?

Posted on Tuesday, 12 February 2008 by Covids, source: Trademork
Apple, the multinational behind successes like the iPod and the iMac, has registered an interesting trademark on February 5th.

The company has protected its name on a few domains.
Hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games
So are they really considering producing handhelds and regular consoles? Probably not in the first few years. In the future ... who knows? Of course there's the more logical explanation that they just didn't want anyone else using there name.

I can see them getting into the handheld market (albeit with some serious competition), but I don't see them going anywhere with a game console. Macintosh has been trying to break into the videogame market (on their computers) since its inception and failed miserably. I recall some quotes from Valve's CEO on this as well.
