Is Microsoft thinking of a new controller?
Posted on Thursday, 29 June 2006 by Anneleen, source: Games Industry
Peter Moore, Xbox boss, suggested that a new controller with a simplified design is being worked on.
Moore implied that Microsoft mighl follow Nintendo, as he is a big fan of Nintendo's Wii.
No motion-sensing, but still innovative? I'm curious... Maybe shock therapy when losing?
At a recent EA Community Event, Moore said the company is looking at "Any way that we can play and make games easier and more intuitive, that takes the intimidation factor away from what is a pretty complex device now when you look at the controller."
"Shoulder buttons, triggers, analog sticks, d-pads - I mean, there's a lot going on there."

So is Microsoft looking for a solution to the problem of overly-complex controllers? Well, "We're doing a lot of stuff there," Moore said - but "Nothing that we're ready to talk about".
He went on to say that Microsoft is "not going to force anything that is not going to be intuitive and innovative" - which could suggest that the company is unlikely to follow in Sony and Nintendo's footsteps by producing a motion-sensing controller.

I don't see why we couldnt have something that attaches to your seat that rumbles..
Of course not in your mouse as that might affect your aim in FPS etc.

Not likely to become a market standard though is it..
I did kind of mean regular rumble though, which could be very cheap but very effective.
