Sales going down, new system coming up?
It seems Nintendo's president isn't blind to reality.

Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, has said during a conference call that thanks to a rather not so compelling software lineup, sales of the Nintendo Wii have stalled.
"The Wii has stalled," Iwata said. "Games of high demand could not be continuously released and the good mood has chilled." Iwata went on to note that it will be difficult to recover from "the slowdown in demand," but he also expressed optimism over Nintendo's ability to continue selling Wiis
To counter this evolution, Nintendo is planning several enhancements to the Wii like Netflix and possibly a HD version or even a completely new system by 2010 or 2011:
"The mood of the market got colder than expected, and there was a difference in expectations," he said. "Now, we are preparing for next year and thinking about what to do the year after next." Iwata reportedly went on to note that Nintendo is optimistic about its chance to right the Wii's downward sales trend going forward.
A new console that could compete better with the X360 and PS3? Doesn't sound all that crazy, especially when seeing how many hardware versions we've seen passing by for the DS in the last couple of years.

the economy has been done & the system cost has been high (&games costs even after buying the exspensive system cost). I thought the new $199.00 cost for a new Wii was GREAT, so much so that my wife;who didn't really like the Wii (especially me!!!!!), she has said she wants to get one (likes that dumb fitness game), &, I am even considering buying one............so the Wii , along with all new system costs have been to high;so smart move @ $199.00!!!!!
