Jack Thompson going to jail?

Posted on Monday, 23 October 2006 by Speed, source: GamePolitics

Gamepolitics is reporting that Take2's lawyers are trying to get Jack Thompson - everyone's favorite game-hater - declared in contempt of court

Although we haven’t yet seen the motion, the request would appear to relate to Thompson’s angry comments in the wake of Miami District Court Judge Ronald Friedman’s refusal to block sales of Bully.

In a worst-case scenario for Thompson, the outspoken attorney could be jailed by Judge Friedman if he were ruled in contempt

This would be without a doubt the joke of the year :)

If the case would be held, probably Thompson will get off with a fine if he's found guilty though.

rather than contempt surely take two could claim defemation and loss of earnings as retailers are still (daftly) jumping on jack bandwagon

loss of earnings

Was you just born, all this shit over the Bully is just going to make sales even higher than they would of been if jack thompson had a girlfriend and a life.

All this media attention and you seriously think sales will be affected in a bad way.

Well if it gets banned from places it would hurt the sales, but for the places its still being sold in, its probably going to do better.

I have to disagree with that ninja.

If some shops choose not to stock, that will not affect sales.
If you went into Currys or whatever shop is not stocking it and they said they didnt have it,would you go home and not buy it,or just keep trying shops until you get it.

If people cant get something, they want it more.
It might mean release date sales are lower if all shops sell out but over all it will just help to sell the game.

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

If they completely ban it from a country, then I doubt the average consumer would go to such lengths to get it. They would probably just buy whatever else looked good at the store. That would in fact hurt sales.

But lets say that someone who lives in a country where the game is banned, really likes the game and really wants to get it. That person would probably find a way to get it. Does it increase sales for the game because this game was banned in his country? No it does'nt because he is going to buy the game regaurdless. Its just that now, its going to be a bit more difficult.
