Japan to get first Xbox 360 250GB add-on

Previously sold only in bundles with a brand new console, Microsoft will now offer the 250GB drive as a standalone add-on.

Coming to Japanese retailers on March 11th, the drive will set you back ¥15,540 which is about 172 US dollars. Meanwhile, Microsoft spokesman Kei Iwasaki stated that they currently have no plans to release the add-on outside of Japan.

The disk, which more than doubles the hard-drive capacity, fits perfectly in Microsoft's strategy to widen its online offerings on the Xbox 360.

I might just snag one of these when I visit Japan at the end of March.

Why bother spending that much when you can get a 250 GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue for $50 & then add the appropriate firmware & formatting?
