Many of you next-gen gamers might not know it but back somewhere at the end of the nineties Klonoa was actually quite an impressive game on the Playstation. It was one of the first games that mixed 2D platform games with 3D backgrounds and it was received with many Ooh's and Aah's. It did also quite well in reviews and retail sales so a franchise was born.

There were a few less successful attempts on the Gameboys of those days and finally there was also a successor on the Playstation 2 which was actually not as good as the original.

Namco is now set to return to the series roots with a remake of the first game that has already been released in Japan and will hit Europe and the US 'later this year'. Both motion controls (with nunchuck) and 'oldskool' classic controls will be available.
