Koreans working on WW2 MMOFPS

Posted on Friday, 27 April 2007 by Speed, source: Fragland
Korean companies Freechal (publisher) and C-On Soft (dev) have announced they're working on a Massive Multiplayer Online FPS called 2War.

2WAR reenacted WWII by thorough historical research. Unlike current online FPS games, the game has distinguished scenarios by Episodes presenting realism of the war. The game consists of 3 Episodes. If you start the game, you will be able to play individual game modes, Episode 1, 16 vs 16.

When you become a private first class, you will be able to play 32 vs 32 clan battles. A clan also levels up through the winning rate and experience points. By leveling up, a clan will be upgraded from squad to battalion upto division.
The game plans to support 50 vs 50 having the separate exclusive group battle server later on.

I guess the Koreans have a different view of what's "massive" than we have...

Anyway, here's the Korean schedule of the beta testing:

- 1st closed beta test(Sep 8, 2006)
- 2nd closed beta test(Oct 25, 2006)
- 3rd closed beta test(Mar 9,2007)
- Open beta test(May 2007)

Other countries will have specific beta tests.

Here are the first screens of the game:

I think Asians in general have this problem... ZING!!

but on a serious note. This looks like Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and I don't know Korean, but how does the game play outside of battles?

I believe in this case he meant that it's a little too small. As in the maximum battles you can get is 50 v 50? That's tiny for an MMO tbh, sicne there probably won't be much else to do.

^ Exactly what I was thinking.

I saw MMOFPS and thought 100 v 100 minimum, then it says it plans on getting 50v50 support? I'll stick to playing Call of Duty :P

Uh, it looks like a steaming piece of turd to be honest. I would understand that if it was truly massive, but now...

Hi,
I'm the person who is in charge of overseas bz for 2WAR in Korea.

We never announced the game as MMOFPS. It was written by someone else. I don't know who wrote that way.
It's such a disappintment to see that the game magazine writer is confusing the online FPS with MMOFPS.

2WAR is not MMO. It is online FPS game. I think you must be familar with Counter Strike. This is exactly like the CS, but not through the intra network but throught online.

Halo only supports 4 vs 4. Counter Strike only supports 8 vs 8.
2WAR supports min 16 vs 16(max 50 vs 50).

Do you see the difference now?
