Otto Berkes, the Hongarian programmer who stood at the cradly of what would later be known as the original Xbox, is leaving Microsoft. With his departure, the last of the four founders of Microsoft's game console has left the company.

Kevin Bachus (2001), Seamus Blackley (2002) en Ted Hase (2006) has already left the company earlier. Together with Berkes they developed the first game console from MS which had as target to "go head to head with Sony's Playstation 2". In 1998 the four men ordered a couple of Dell laptops to take them apart and create a game console based on Windows DirectX software. The plan was to make a "DirectX Box".

Berkes succeeded in convincing the big bosses, the rest is history. Now, after 18 years of service and at age 48, the Hungarian decided that it's time for something else.
