The official word:
Featuring all new gameplay footage, the launch trailer shows how Bodycount's outrageously overpowered weaponry, dense, intimate environmental 'shredding' and intense arcade firefights come together to deliver explosive results. Codemasters Guildford Studio debut game ups the ante for no-nonsense shooter fun; players shred through the game world with their bullets and spectacularly blow enemies through walls as they fight on behalf of The Network to bring down the mysterious 'Target'.
In stores September 2nd in Europe, as of today in the US.
The first reviews have come up and show an average Metacritic score of 58 on X360 and 52 on PS3. Not really so great...
An overview:
Bodycount benefits from a solid core, and plenty of moments entertained me throughout the campaign, including some of the more intense gunfights. But the disconnect between Bodycount's chaotic visual spectacle and its precise scoring system drive a large divide between how you want to play and how Bodycount expects you to play. The limited environmental palette and the lack of any real story further damper the fun.
Despite the thrill of wrecking havoc on an unjust world, Bodycount lacks the polish and overall entertainment value of its peers.
