Lucasarts about the game industry and release dates
In an interview with MCV, Jim Ward, President of Lucasarts, shared his opinion about the current situation concerning the game industry and release delays. He particularly talked about EA and their recent push-backs of certain games.
The "funny" thing though is that Lucasarts isn't that punctual either. They too had some delays in the past and not that long ago either. For example: Empire At War had a number of date-changes. Another game was Knights Of The Old Republic, which suffered greatly from similar issues and was pushed back numerous times.
All in all it seems that these delay problems are very common in the industry and even are perfectly normal. A company can set a release date but it's almost certain that some unexpected issues will come along while developing and these will be pushing back the "day of judgment".
When you have EA failing to bring Superman out with the movie, that's inexcusable. Moving games like Medal of Honor and The Godfather out of the fourth quarter -- that's the old way of thinking and you can't do that any more.
