Mario Kart Double Dash at ECTS
More news from the Nintendo frontlines.
At ECTS we got to play the latest version of the Mario Kart series: Mario Kart Double Dash. The obvious and apparent changes were that you race with 2 characters in a kart and that you can choose the kart you're driving now. You can switch the characters from place (one sitting behind and one driving).
There are also a bunch of new powerups like multi-fireballs and yoshi eggs. You can also carry two powerups (if you pick up the correct blocks).
The levels are the colorful and beatiful ones you're used to from the earlier versions, but ofcourse with more freedom of movement and crazier than ever.
We also got to play in LAN-mode, where every player had a screen for himself, so that we didn't have to suffer the mini split-screens. It would be interesting to recreate such a situation with a couple of friends and race until the early hours.
One negative remark: the karts seemed slow.. sooo very slow... even in 150cc. I hope they fix that.
So, proud nintendo fans and gamecube owners, get those wallets ready for the release of MK DD, expected in november!
