Marvel looking for company to make Avengers game
Marvel has issued a statement that they're actively looking for a company to make a game based on the upcoming Avengers movie.
That Marvel now openly admits they're looking for a new partner makes it clear that THQ no longer seems to be interested, or Marvel wants someone else.
The pre-alpha footage has been removed from Youtube by now, on request of Marvel.
Personally I find it strange THQ was chosen in the first place. Previous games based on Marvel IP (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man 2,...) have all been in the hands of Sega.
"The rights for a video game based on Marvel's Avengers IP have reverted back to Marvel,"
"The company is in early stages of exploring potential publishing and licensing opportunities."
Earlier this week some footage hit the web from an Avengers game that was being created under the wings of THQ. Unfortunately, it was clear from the moment the trailer went online that the game was actually cancelled. Also the studios from THQ in Australia that were working on it have been closed so there's no future for Avengers there."The company is in early stages of exploring potential publishing and licensing opportunities."
