Microsoft calls back compatibility update Xbox360

On December 8, Microsoft has released a new update for the Xbox360. The so called 'compatibility fix' had to make it possible to play old games on the new console.

The new update added support for most of the games from the Tom Clancy-series: Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon 2, Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike, Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory, Rainbow Six 3 and Six 3: Black Arrow.

Less fun for Microsoft was the fact that, after installing the update, their own Halo 2 didn't want to function in HDTV format. And that was exactly what this updates are meant for.

As soon as the problems were known, Microsoft has removed the patch from their website and -hopefully- will soon replace it by a working version.

have they released anything 360 related yet that actually works :| my 360 didn't work out of the box, shouldn't they be fixing their hardware before worrying about releasing bodged patches that they later recall ?!

Microsoft is a big company, I'm sure they can debug software and fix hardware at the same time.

It is Microsoft, It takes them half a year, or more, to fix security flaws in Internet Explorer, and that is just for surfing the Web, not a complex gaming console.
