Microsoft finds GTA4-delay OK

A NY Post-blogger figured out that Microsoft doesn't mind the delay of Grand Theft Auto IV. In the contrary, they think it's a good thing, giving gamers the opportunity to play other holiday-hits.

Say whut? Microsoft supposedly invested big time in the development of the game, according to rumours. Why would they find this good?

So, I asked.

"Excuse me, but - the money Microsoft paid to Rockstar was quite a hefty chunk. Now I'm not saying this was a bad business move, but it was clearly designed to pull GTA-Sony loyalists to your side. So are you saying that the millions you guys paid out of pocket to get gamers into Microsoft hands for the holiday rush wasn't wasted in any way?"

The Xbox rep grinned uneasily, "I never said we gave Rockstar money. I don't think we ever –"

"I'm not asking if you said it, I'm suggesting that your plan was blown out of the water a bit because now there isn't as much of a draw for 'converts'."

And then there was a brief, awkward silence and more assurances that, really -- hey, for serious -- Microsoft is totally happy about GTA IV being delayed.

i own all the newest consoles and i have to say the man is right about the dvd limitations dvd is not near larg enough witch is why ms is putting the game on an hd dvd drive and ms does not like that it is forcing the market to buy a device that thy refuse to put in there machine on top of that the limitations on the rez is an upscaled 1080i to 1080p so the quality is not as good non the less it will be good just not as good each sys has its ups and downs the fact that ms has not put the hd-dvd player into the sys is what is killing it dvd is just way to small to do next gen on. but it is true that the ps3 is is a lot harder to develop for and could very well be the prob but also the ps3 lover is right when a production team stays on one sys only development for it goes a lot faster due to the fact that thay only have to worry about one sys at a time as i said each have there ups and downs the end
