Midway delays Rise & Fall, first PSP titles underway

Their latest financial report shows that Midway is making some losses (revenues dropped in comparison to the second quarter period of last year). The game to blame is Unreal Championship 2 (Xbox) apparently, the first Unreal game published by Midway and according to them it didn't sell as well as they had expected.

Their future lineup includes the company's first PSP titles, namely Mortal Kombat: Deception Unchained and Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play, which will both be released in the fourth quarter of 2005. Unfortunately, they had to delay the real-time strategy game Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War to the first quarter of 2006 (the original release date was sometime this fall):

In addition, with the expectation of a crowded fourth quarter market for real-time strategy titles, we believe it is prudent to shift Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War to 2006 to benefit from a less competitive release window.
Scared of the competition, or perhaps the game isn't finished yet? Frankly, I was looking forward to Rise & Fall (in development at Stainless Steel Studios of Rick Goodman) even more than Age of Empires III or the other rts games that will come out this year.
