Midway still planning to release Rise & Fall
Midway has given an official statement regarding the status of their real-time strategy game Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, which was in development at the now defunct Stainless Steel Studios.
The following explanation was posted at the official site:
Anyhow, everyone is curious of what developer is going to finish the game instead of SSSi. On the bright side; a nice find by fansite RiseandFallHeaven is this Rednote Audio site where some music tracks of Rise & Fall are listed. Although we don't know in what state the final game will be released, at least the music sounds pretty epic.
The following explanation was posted at the official site:
"Due to circumstances beyond Midway‘s control, Stainless Steel Studios is no longer involved with the development of Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War. Despite this unfortunate situation, Midway remains focused and determined to deliver a revolutionary real-time strategy experience with Rise & Fall, and will look to stay true to the title‘s original development vision. Rise & Fall Civilizations at War remains scheduled for release in 2006. Midway appreciates the patience and support of Rise & Fall fans and will provide updates on the game‘s development and a more specific release date as soon as possible."
So, the release date is now just 2006 instead of the previously stated February 2006. The first sentence is quite diplomatic and somewhat in contrast with the sayings of Rick Goodman which accused Midway of not paying Stainless Steel Studios long enough.Anyhow, everyone is curious of what developer is going to finish the game instead of SSSi.
