Midway versus bankruptcy, selling Mortal Kombat, paying bonuses
Publisher Midway has been in financial trouble for quite some while now and it seems they have a plan to get out of trouble.
They are trying to offload some of their well known franchises to other publishers that still have some dough to cough up. Amongst those franchises is Mortal Kombat, one of Midway's best selling game series.
So far so good one might think. But aside from the question "What will they make money one once they sell all the good stuff?" there is some other disturbing information.
According to Kotaku some court documents have surfaced which describe a bonus payout plan for the upper management for each part of the franchise sale. A whopping $3,755,000 has been set aside in financial extras for the big shots.
Where does a company on the edge of bankruptcy get that amount of cash to hand out like candy you ask? Simple, just don't pay out your sacked employees' paid holidays and you should be getting there.
