Some late night mod news for the fans:

UT2003:

- Troopers go into open beta testing
Earlier this week, Epic announced that the deadline for entries into Phase 2 of their Make Something Unreal competition has been postponed by two weeks. Based on that announcement, the Troopers Team has decided to push the release back slightly. This will give us more time to make sure we cross our T’s and dot our I’s.

Don’t despair though – it won’t be a long wait. In fact, if you’re interested in helping us polish our release, it will be hardly any wait at all. Hot on the heels of our request for cross-platform compatibility testers earlier this week, we are now calling upon your assistance to test Troopers before the official release!

- A new beta of Lawdogs, the UT2003 Wild West Mod.
Most important changes:
- Fixed can't suicide whilst in vehicle.
- Fixed 'incompatible game file' messages.
- Added 'use' to controls settings menu.
- All players' names displayed when you point at them.
- Fixed HUD disappearing after leaving vehicle.
- Fixed being able to enter vehicles through walls.
- Fixed throwing weapons giving extra ammo.
- Added map: BuckersCrossing

- Red Orchestra, that recently saw its first release for UT2003 will get a patch soon.
The development team is hard at work on the upcoming patch. The patch should be released within the next "few days," which is the last from the coders.

BF1942:

- Desert Combat 0.5 is still on the right track.
Desert Combat 0.5 Beta is progressing very well. I'd like to inform everyone that it will be available only as a full build in order to clean up the source a bit. Doing so will remove over 100 MB of redundant data from your hard drive. Right now we're looking at a release size of 500-550 MB, though that might change as we move closer to release. Thank you all for your understanding, and start saving up those MB's for a great build.

- Forgot a bit about this mod but thanks to Planetbattlefield it came back to my attention. Battlefield Grand Prix is still about racing and havin fun while doing it and they just released a new patch.
Ok people, Finally squashed the major bug and so the new release is now ready to be released. I have decided that since there were problems with the first couple of releases this release can be installed fresh or installed over the old versions.

Half Life:

Not much to do here with the upcoming release of part 2 (maybe? yes no?) so alot of the mod sites were still going on about the recent happenings.

- Action HL is coming back to the scene with a bang.
AHL v1 will be released on Friday, Oct. 24th. This will be marked by a 'release party' in #planetaction on Quakenet.

We're hoping to get a lot of the creators/contributors there, so if you want to say hi, and be the first to get the download links, be there.

PA/A-team members will be there to answer action-related questions.

At the moment there's no official release time, but pop around here later this week, and we'll post more details.

Quake:

- Quaker X of the rocket depot won a map contest and he will release the winning map in the near future.
Alright, have some news. I recently entered a level design contest held by the Student Game Developers Association with the University of Texas at Dallas for the 3rd annual Computer Game Conference. Well, I recently found out that I was chosen as the winner, and will be heading to Dallas, TX to present my level in front of other students and game developers.
About the new map. I probably won't release any info on it until I return from my 950 mile journey to Dallas. Screenshots coming soon...

- New NoName Script version. This mIRC script that started out in the early quaking days just got updated for version 6.12. It supports all major games on both Quake and UT engines.
Because of the discovery of a serious security issue in mIRC from versions 6.0 to 6.11 we decided to release a beta version of the upcoming NoNameScript 3.8 which is compatible to the new mIRC 6.12 that fixes this issue. To avoid confusion with later, final releases, we named it 3.79.
