It's been known for a while Atari would distribute a boxed version of EVE Online.
Some more details have come to light on this boxed version now.

Every player that buys the boxed version, wether beginner or a veteran, will get 60 days of gametime. On top of this (s)he will also get a free special edition ship. This special ship will be a fast shuttle with a larger than normal cargo bay.

Besides this the player will also receive a certificate which will allow him/her to immediately participate in "faction warfare". Something (s)he would otherwise need to build up sufficient standings for. There will also be a career guide, a handy tool for new players, filled with hints and tips on how to start off in the game. To round it all off buyers will also have the opportunity to invite friends or family to participate in an extended trial period. If the invitee in the end also decides to subscribe the buyer of the boxed version will get an additional 30 days subscription to his/her account.

A nice package that will compell both experienced and new EVE player, especially when priced competitively. Now all that rests is the wait before the first of the special edition shuttles will be blown to smithereens on the virtual battlefield.
