More info on Ghost Recon 3 for PC

Posted on Friday, 24 June 2005 by thondermonst, source: Blues
Swedish developer GRIN will be working on the PC version of Ghost Recon 3. The announcement on this weird page (scroll to the right) confirms previous rumours that the name of the next installment in Ubisoft's franchise will be Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

Official announcement STOCKHOLM - June 23 2005 - Today, GRIN is proud to confirm that they are developing the PC version for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. Working in close collaboration with Ubisoft's studios, GRIN is delighted to bring its expertise to the next installment on Windows® PC DVD-ROM of the smash-hit squad based shooter franchise.

In the past GRIN has developed Ballistics and Bandits - Phoenix Rising. Good news for PC gamers since the PC version of Ghost Recon 2 got cancelled.

They only got this gig because the letters of their name, GRIN, are contained within the name 'Ghost Recon'. OK, so the 'i' isn't there, but it still screams of favouritism if you ask me. Booooo to Ubisoft and their underhanded and machiavellian game tendering process. Boycott this game!!

Eh? I think it's good to see a lesser known development studio getting a big project. I mean, EA once started out in the back of a garage probably. Everything - given a chance to grow - has the ability to live up to a certain potential. At this moment it's unclear what that potential is, but I think it's interesting to say the least, that a big title is trusted to such a small player. if GRIN takes this on right they could be the next DICE. Small firms usually have more urge to deliver a good performance than large already established firms that can rely on multiple titles and already achieved fame.

I think it's refreshing, about time we saw a new face in the industry.
