NINTENDO PRESS CONFERENCE: the report
Posted on Tuesday, 9 May 2006 by Speed, source: Fragland.net
In the Kodak Theater the Nintendo pre-E3 press conference has finished and through Devilke and Ace- we've gotten the latest fresh from the press.
Most important themes were of course the Wii, the DS and how Nintendo wants to lure the non-gamer to the console. According to them, emotion, fun and gameplay are a lot more important than goodlooking graphics. First disappointment: the Wii will arrive this year but price and specific date haven't been announced yet.
A bit better is the fact that Zelda: Twilight Princess will be a launch game for the Wii. Also surprising is the fact that there will be two versions of the game, one for Wii and one for Gamecube, both available on launch. According to Nintendo it will be the best Zelda game ever.
Next to that the controller appears to not only have more motion-sensitive gadgets than that of Sony, Nintendo sweetly confirms that a rumble-feature IS possible and will be present. Also there's a little speaker in the Wii controller.
Next to a bunch of movies of first (including the new Super Mario Galaxy) and third party games, also new franchises are announced including Excite Truck, Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and Disaster. 27 Wii games will be playable on the E3 floor as of tomorrow.
Also the DS gets some attention, with new games like Starfox DS, Diddy Kong Racing and Yoshi's Island 2. Final Fantasy III looks pretty good on DS.
Then some about the online capacities of the Wii. It will use the Opera browser and through WiiConnect24 it will permanently be connected to the internet, even when turned off. So developers can push software to your device, or friends can visit your gameworld and leave a message or present while you're asleep.
That's in short what has been said. Keep your eye on Fragland as we'll post more details and updates on the games and especially the Microsoft press conference later on!
