Wii breaks records
The NPD sales figures for December are out and as expected all three major console makers are happy as they can be with them.

Nintendo sold 2 million Wiis in December and 3 million DS handhelds, making 2008 a record-breaking year for the Wii as it sold over 10 million in total, something no console has ever done before.

Microsoft saw its Xbox360 sold 1.4 million times in the US which - according to Microsoft - made it outsell its direct competition (PS3) on a two-to-one ratio during the holiday quarter. The weekly run-rate increased with 38% when compared to November data. Most importantly, Microsoft claims that the Xbox360 has generated more third party retail revenue than P3 and Wii combined.

Sony in the meantime is happy to announce that the Playstation Family (PS3, PS2 and PSP all together) sold over 2.1 million hardware units and all sales figures went up with big % numbers.

Lets face it. Sony could drop the price to $200 dollars..and still not ever sell even close to what the Wii has. They now realize this and are never going to let the public witness the proof. By keeping expensive...They can always say that the Wii is the Cheaper system.
