Namco Bandai makes a deal with Infogrames
Posted on Tuesday, 9 September 2008 by Speed, source: Gamesindustry.biz
Infogrames has announced they've made a deal with Namco Bandai to distribute their games in Europe and Asia.
Infogrames' CEO, David Gardner, already couldn't be much happier:
Under the terms of the deal Namco Bandai will acquire 34 per cent of Infogrames' European and Asian distribution operations and Infogrames will "regroup" those operations into a standalone entity, which would then distribute the two companies' products exclusively in both territories.
Sounds like a great deal for Infogrames who are also the parent company of Atari.Infogrames' CEO, David Gardner, already couldn't be much happier:
"I am delighted that this transaction strengthens our outstanding partnership with Namco Bandai, one of the industry's greatest creators and publishers of video games, and is a significant development in Infogrames' reinvention.
"The agreement will give Infogrames a guaranteed and strengthened product portfolio and provide us additional means to invest in new product development for packaged and online markets."
I'm sure that companies like Ubisoft and Nintendo won't be all too thrilled with this deal as they've been doing distribution for quite a number of Namco titles in the past."The agreement will give Infogrames a guaranteed and strengthened product portfolio and provide us additional means to invest in new product development for packaged and online markets."
