New 360 dashboard reduces games install sizes?

It seems that the new Xbox360 dashboard that's currently in beta reduces the install size of games on the harddisk.
Following reports of several beta testers, games that are installed after the update are taking a lot less space on the harddisk than they used to. Whether this is because the new dashboard does some compression or just copies less files is currently unknown. Also, all games need to be removed and reinstalled for the update and file decrease to happen. Whether this is only in the beta version or will also be necessary in the final version of the dashboard is also currently not yet known.

Call of Duty 4 0.2gb smaller, Call of Duty: WAW 0.1gb smaller, Gears of War 2 0.4gb smaller, Halo 3 0.6gb smaller, Battlefield: BC 1.6gb smaller, SFIV 0.4gb smaller, and Left 4 Dead 1.3gb smaller.
