New Alan Wake game coming up, but it ain't Wake 2
Oskari Hakkinen, Remedy Entertainment's head of franchise development, said in an interview that more Alan Wake is on the way, but that it won't be Alan Wake 2.
The new title is supposed to please fans of the first game, but also makes it possible for new people to jump on the bandwagon.
An official announcement with some visuals is what they had preferred, but he did say he was pleased with the many positive reactions they recieved.
“Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,”
Which platforms the game will be on or when we can expect a release hasn't been confirmed. Hakkinen did say that this Autumn would be a good guess. The new title is supposed to please fans of the first game, but also makes it possible for new people to jump on the bandwagon.
"It's something that'll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this instalment will also give an opportunity for players who aren't familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board,"
The Finnish developer is disappointed about yesterday's leak after a visual artist mentioned a new Alan Wake on a LinkedIn profile. An official announcement with some visuals is what they had preferred, but he did say he was pleased with the many positive reactions they recieved.
"This has come in a little unexpected as we weren't expecting to be talking about this just yet," shrugged Hakkinen, referring to the leak. "On the flip side, it's great to see that there is interest out there - it really would seem Alan Wake is very close to the hearts of the fans out there, and to ours too.
"It is of course a shame that this news leaked before our official announcements went out which will include the visuals and information to support it."
In all expectations we'll be getting a spin-off as the game is clearly not set up as a sequel. No doubt we'll hear more about this at E3."It is of course a shame that this news leaked before our official announcements went out which will include the visuals and information to support it."
