After a few weeks of rumours flying around, the guys at Gamesindustry finally got a confirmation from SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe). The renewed and especially lighter version of the PlayStation 2 will also be launched here in Europe.

Are there any dramatical changes? Yes and no, the main difference is that this version has an integrated powersupply, that ugly thing you allways hide for aesthetical reasons. The console will be available in three colors: Charcoal Black, Ceramic White and Satin Silver.

The new version is also quite a bit lighter than it's predecessor thanks to a revised internal architecture. But since the thing costs €129.99 I'm not gonna break it open to confirm that last statement :o)

Seems like Sony doesn't want to give up on the PS2 after all.
